Of course you could reverse that from a pve point of view. It's been said that the new content will equal the amount we have currently. In that respect then full price seems reasonable. However, I'm going to go via Play and pay my £17.99 thanks.
Oh, cheers for the 'hold my nose' comment - mature.

So far what I've seen/heard about Factions doesn't impress me much.

considering that they have already stated many times many places that chapter 2 will have at least the same amount of content as the original full game i dont see your problem.
oh yea they also stated that with the full games worth of new content it would be priced accordingly.
this is chapter 2
this is NOT an expansion

ok i just have a question....since this is a "stand-along" game will people who make a Factions character be able to play with normal GW players? or would you be limited?
Like if you buy Factions and a friend only has GW, can you make an Assassin/Ritualist and still be able to play with them? or with new items and stuff? i assume you cant (which sucks) but i am just wondering

Really Loviatar, have they? They still haven't officially stated how many character slots, nor how Guilds will be affected with/between the 2 chapters, or how they will link the 2 chapters/accounts, and priced accordingly ? To me that means see how much we can squeeze out of you, or like some auto mechanics says "How much money you got on you?" All information BTW that at this point along most credible companies would know by now.
So the vague statements they have made, have actually added to the hysteria and confusion.

After seeing some of the prime assasin builds that were starting to appear during the end times pvp weekend Im very confident that the 2 new classes and the extra content are going to change how we GvG and how we setup our groups for that next omg these monsters are hard area (uw,fow, pve tombs, ect) yes Im all in for buying chapter 2. The factions controlling sections of the map is also an interesting twist in my oppinion.

I will be buying factions and think 50 dollars would be a fair price if the quality and quantity of the content justifed it.
I'm sure Anet could make tons of money just rehashing the chapter 1 content they have now, but the tarnish of a subpar product wouldnt be worth it.
I trust that Anet if thel charge that price that they will have a fairly new and fresh game play experince and not just more of the same set in an asian theme.
In a new full price game I would expect
New PvE experince not just a new maps with new enemies to figth but different types of Quests and missions to do.
Honestly if Anet doesnt get creative with the New pve content people wont buy the game.
New PvP types not just new maps to fight on.
Guild wars has so much potential but if are pvp types are limited it so waster.
if they can keep it fresh with each new expansion then I think the price will be well worth it
I just hope this isnt the begining of a "Maddenization" of the franchise.
(release the same game each year with updated rosters (new skills) and 1 or 2 gameplay gimmicks (the in game factions)

I think you must have misinterpreted me... I was just saying that I don't enjoy the PVE but will play it anyway for unlocking. I wasn't trying to imply anything about PVE for those who do like it.

Considering it'd have about double the content of the core game and it's stand-alone it's worth every penny. My only problem with it would be that it isn't released yet.. I'll buy not only factions but every chapter that follows because of my love for the game and the brilliance of Anet.

Look Apocalypse, Anet SAID that they didn't decide on that section of information that you are complaining about yet. I've read Gaille post this inside and OUTSIDE of the game. You will just have to wait on more details. You have the entire month of Feburary and most of March for that info to make its way down the pipes.
A ton of people acrose like 5 different boards are complaining about the slot and storage. To come out now and say what is what is going to cause PR trouble, which is probabaly why Gaille and Alex avoids it like the plague. The guild thing is probabaly a matter of who has Chapter 2 content and who doesn't. Linked accounts are most likely to be upgraded to meet Chapter 2 standards providing that you enter your chapter 2 key in the accounts area of the program. The past Preview event has proven that.
NC Soft has proven that they are a very credible company. Now Sony on the otherhand...
Anyway, the Chapter is supposed to be expand the overall game another 450%. That means everything in the first chapter x2. If so then ITs well worth $49.99. But it would be nice to grant discounts to those who already own an account.

Of course I'll buy it. I really just want to explore the new PvE areas, and I hope we get some cool looking new armors and weapons. I'm sure we'll get some new character slots, but I'm more interested in more storage space.

"The same amount of content" eh? To me, that would seem to include the same amount of character slots to explore it with... I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of chapter two, and I'm more likely than not going to buy it no matter what based on the value GW has already gotten me ($1/15 hours = why would I be foolish enough not to buy it?). But I will be really, really, really, bitter, jaded, pissed off, outraged, inflamed, annoyed, furious, frustrated, angry, vengeful, antagonized, chafed, provoked, irate, sullen, and riled if I don't get enough new character slots (and again, enough assumed to be > than one, because we got four the first time and have been promised "equal content").

In that case we'll be getting 4 this time. As has been stated I dont know how many times, this is not an expansion. It is a stand alone game that can be combined with chapter one. Why would they put 8 character slots (I assume thats what you're hoping for)? By putting 6 slots in, thats more than chapter 1.

I'll buy it, but I have two accounts so I'm not sure if I'll get one copy or two. I may take one for a test drive. If I love it, I'll get a second for my other account.

From Anet:
Hello,
Thanks for contacting Guild Wars Support. We can not change the character's classes nor retrieve any items that are in the character's packs. At this time the characters will remain locked and you can choose to leave them on your account until Guild Wars: Factions is released. At the present time it is planned that they will be unlocked for play upon purchase of Guild Wars: Factions, however please keep an eye on http://www.guildwars.com for any announcements regarding how these characters will work upon the release of the game. If you have any further questions or comments, feel free to contact us.
This seems sort Mafia like if I want those items back I gotta buy the Fractions pack or ELSE!
